Anti Aging Vitamins
Look Good Feel Good Be Good

Anti aging vitamins are those that help you fight off the free radical damage that is found in almost every cell of your body. Anti oxidants are those vitamins, minerals, herbs and other substances like COQ10 that the body uses to kill and eliminate the free radicals. These vitamins can be found in most fruits and vegetables and most raw or whole food supplements. It is always best to get your vitamins from natural food sources not synthetic sources.

The anti aging vitamins that are considered antioxidant rich are Vitamins A, C and E. Beta Carotene also finds its way onto vitamin lists. The pigment substance Beta Carotene which is found in fruits and vegetables, like carrots, is converted by the body to vitamin A which then becomes a powerful antioxidant and helps support the immune system as well. The B Vitamins are not anti oxidant vitamins as such but they show up in most vitamin formulas because they are the substances that convert raw materials into ATP which is in every cell and is the energy that powers our bodies. Vitamin D is not an antioxidant vitamin and is primarily gotten from the suns rays.

Vitamin A an essential nutrient, refers to a family of molecules classified as retinoids. Vitamin A as beta carotene is found in fruits and vegetables like carrots, peas and broccoli and others. Vitamin A is converted Beta Carotene. Vitamin A is also found in eggs, butter, meats and poultry.

Vitamin C is also an essential vitamin and is classified as l ascorbate. Ascorbate is required for metabolism in all plants and animals. Ascorbate is made internally by most plants and animals, except of course in humans. Vitamin C is an antioxidant because it protects the body against oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the bodies way of rusting. In my unscientific terms rust is the free radical damage and anti oxidants are the substance that stops rust.

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin; unlike A and C both water soluble vitamins. Vitamin E is the collective name for eight related tocopherols and tocotrienols. It has been claimed that α-tocopherol is the most important lipid-soluble antioxidant, and that it protects cell membranes from oxidation. There is that rust again. The natural form hence the most active and powerful by 50%, is D alpha tocopherol and the synthetic is labeled DL alpha tocopherol.

Cartenoids are not a vitamin but a natural nutrient element found in fruits and vegetables that in the body produces the antioxidant Vitamin A.

All Vitamins are not created equal but our bodies need some of every vitamin.

Vitamins are important but without minerals the vitamins cannot function.
