Cranberry Juice Detox

Cranberry juice detox programs have proven effective as a detoxification method, and some people will find them more suitable than simple juice fasting because you are never at any time expected to go without food or nutrients. These cranberry juice programs are fundamentally safe for anyone, although someone who is really overweight and extremely unhealthy would probably need to work up to the program more gradually. There is a chance of reaction when you change your dietary habits completely overnight. If you don't include any fruit in your current regime, it would be better to take a slower route to the juice program.

For the system to work, you need to be convinced of the fact that detox programs do work. There are those in the media, even some known and renowned faces, who claim that detoxification is not necessary, that it is just a fad, and that proper eating is all you need. This is totally wrong. Detox programs have been around for a great many years, long before the mass media started showing an interest. Even if it was once true that proper eating was enough, you certainly cannot say that today in our highly polluted environment.

The only reason why detox programs do not work for some people is that they are following a system which is not right for them at that particular time. Many of the media detox programs are very short and aimed at getting fast results. Unless your liver is ready to expel toxins at that rate, it simply isn't going to happen. With the cranberry juice detox, it is important to be ready. Yes, you can pull out if you start to feel that it is not right, but why waste the time and effort? If you feel you need more time to build up to this step, by all means take it.

A good cranberry juice detox program will combine the juice with other high nutrient but low calorie foods. Anything toxic such as meat, milk, caffeine, alcohol, or anything with too much salt, sugar, saturated fat or starch will not be on the menu. It will also contain other foods which are helpful in clearing the body of toxins. These include pectin, which is a binding agent, and psyllium fiber, which is a bulking agent recommended for helping to finally remove the toxins from the body.

A detox program of this type can easily last for two or three weeks, and if it does it will be best to phase out the psyllium and pectin before the end. Also, in the last week you can begin bringing in some of those foods you have had to cut out while the fast was taking place. It goes without saying that it is still better to eat sensibly, but you don't need to be quite so restrictive as during the early stages of your cranberry juice detox.
