Cysteine Essential
To Form Glutathione

Cysteine is an amino acid containing sulfur and occurs naturally in foods and is also manufactured by the body from the amino acid methionine In the production of cysteine, methionine is converted to S-adenosyl methionine (SAM), which is then converted to homocysteine. Homocysteine then reacts with serine to form cysteine. Cysteine is also found in the body and in food as cysteine.

Cysteine is also essential in the formation of Glutathione the master antioxidant which is found in every cell in the body. Glutathione is found in large quantities in the liver and eyes. In the liver Glutathione is a chelate removing heavy metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium. Glutathione as a detoxifier and the master cell antioxidant is very important and can not exist without good amounts of cysteine.

If you are low or near deficient in cysteine you can tell rather easily, most everyone who is low in this important amino acid gets the cold and flu easily and often. A diet definicy can also be caused by low amounts of methionine, B-6, B-12 folic acid and SAMe. All of these nutrients help form and regulate cysteine. Cysteine is rather easy to get and is found in most fruits and vegetables and

One company has been a leader in this field now for over 12 years. The Canadian company Immunotec has done a great deal of research in this area. Further they hold numerous patents on their products. Glutathione is the subject of these studies and the role that cysteine plays in the making of glutathione. Their flagship product Immunocal has been shown to help numerous medical problems by furnishing the precursors to allow the body to manufacture large amounts of glutathione in the body’s cells. One of the main precursors is cysteine.
