Fasting Detox Programs
Can Give Great Benefits

Fasting detox systems have been part of the quest to cleanse the body and bring it renewed vitality ever since man first began to study medicine. What may seem like a recent fad because of increased media interest is actually a very old principle which health enthusiasts have been using for years. Although there is considerable debate in the written press about whether or not detoxification works, and whether or not it is necessary, the results which people have gained in the past speak for themselves.

There are, of course, people who have tried a fasting detox and found it of no benefit whatsoever. There are also plenty of people who have had an adverse and negative reaction to it, often resulting in them needing to come off the fast before they had intended to. Does this mean, then, that the this method of detox is risky, or that we should not do it? No, it simply means that the people who experienced the negative results did not carry out the fasting in a way which was beneficial to them.

It does need to be mentioned in passing that the human body is never going to be 100% predictable. There are people who are experienced with fasting who still have occasional times where they feel it is right to stop, and so they do. However, this is far more likely to happen if a fast is carried out by someone who is simply not ready for this kind of effort. How do you know when you are ready? Well, it is all a case of starting slowly and building up to a more concentrated effort.

It is as well to consider at this stage exactly what we are trying to achieve with a fasting detox. If we look at it as a purely short term solution, it is not likely to be effective. If the liver is completely clogged with impurities and toxins, it will not expel these in the way you would want it to. If you fast for long enough, you will receive some benefit, but only at the expense of some severe side effects.

No, detox fasting needs to be carried out as part of an overall plan for better health. Start by eliminating the worst of the toxins which are taken into the body, insofar as you are able. Eat a diet based on raw, fresh, nutritious food and replace saturated fats with monounsaturated ones. Cut out processed and refined foods which are high in starch. Take as much pressure as you can off your liver, and it will respond better when you are fasting. Introduce your fasts one day at a time whenever you feel ready. This will provide gentle stimulation to the liver. If you want to, you can then step up the intensity of your fasting detox.
