Heart Disease Symptoms
Heart Disease Risks

In all my days I have never had my family doctor talk about heart disease or heart disease symptoms. Not ever!. Heart and cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in America. Now I realize that there is some talk by professional organizations but in recent years we get most of our information from drug companies trying to sell us drugs for all of the heart disease risks and symptoms they can think of and killing a lot of people in the process. You would think that the best person to talk about the disease to patients is the person treating them. Of course this is only my experience and you may have a family doc that talks to you all the time about how to stay healthy. Here is a doc that will show you.

The problem with heart disease is; it starts early around 22 to 23. This was shown in the mid 1940’s. In those days the medical community did autopsy as a matter of course. When a serviceman was killed in action there was usually an autopsy done as a routine thing. Many medical breakthroughs have been discovered on the autopsy table. Most of our combat troops are young people some still in there teens and it was discovered that a high percentage of these men many age 22 or younger already had a good start on hardening of the arteries. There heart disease symptoms were invisible but still there and growing every day.

Much of the newer research is about free radicals and their damaging characteristics to the blood vessels and other cells in the body. All cells have an outer area membrane called the mitochondria. The mitochondria generates most of the cells ATP which is used as energy. Further the mitochondria has their own DNA. The nucleolus of every cell also has DNA. When free radicals attack cells they damage the DNA of both the cell nucleolus and the Mitochondria. If the damage continues the aging process can be quickened.

On the other hand if there is adequate antioxidant protection either from the food you eat (read fruits and veggies) or the food supplements you take (read super Food) then the aging process can be slowed down and heart disease may be able to be better controlled.

Here are some heart disease symptoms. They are also called heart disease risk factors. Some on this list you might not see on most lists. Remember however, that science or the medical community really does not know what causes heart blockages and in turn heart attacks or heart disease symptoms. The research is ongoing and changing at a rapid rate as technology breakthroughs give them more tools and constant health research gives them more information.

• Smoking is a large risk factor in heart disease. Smokers die of heart disease in larger percentages that people who do not smoke. Smoking is constantly putting toxins in your body which form free radicals and cause damage to the entire body. Research has shown that this damage is primarily caused in the blood vessels and this damage cause lung, and heart disease among others. If you are diabetic and smoke you are quadrupling your risk.

• If you have poor circulation in your feet, legs or arms this can be a heart disease symptom. The symptom of poor circulation in your extremities is pain in your calves when walking short distances that goes away when you stop.

• Another symptom is your hands and or feet or toes fall asleep easily and or all cold all the time.

• More obvious symptoms are wounds that won’t heal or heal slowly and a blood clot in any extremity. These can all be symptoms of heart disease. When there is poor circulation in the extremities there is a good chance poor circulation is present or is developing elsewhere. This is also called peripheral vascular disease.

• High blood pressure is a risk factor of heart and vascular disease. When it takes more pressure to push the blood through the body damage may result, especially at artery and vein junctions. A real world example is where two streams of water come together. The meeting of the water streams cause damages to the shore line that shows up as erosion. The same thing happens in your blood stream according to Dr. Robert Rowan MD. The vessels are damaged and repaired over and over again. This causes build up and slowly slows and interrupts blood flow.

• Obesity is a risk factor because obesity is caused by what and how you eat. If you are overweight you are eating to much of the wrong foods. Further if you are 20% overweight the extra weight puts more strain on the heart and vascular system. Almost everyone I know who has had bypass surgery eats to much, drinks to much, does not exercise and most eat incorrectly.

• Lack of exercise is not considered a heart disease symptom but think about this. The body was designed to exercise and be a very active mechanism. People who do exercise on a regular basis have less heart and vascular disease. When you body is exercised the circulation system and heart work at peak efficiency. Exercisers have lower blood pressure, lower heart rate and are not overweight as a rule.

• Diabetes is also a large risk factor The reason. 60% of all people with diabetes die of heart disease. The direct cause of Diabetes type 2 is not really known, however it would appear that the same villains are at work here. Diet and exercise or actually the lack thereof.

• Lastly is high cholesterol. There is a tremendous amount of disagreement in whether cholesterol is a high risk factor in heart disease. When people die of heart disease most of them have high cholesterol and therefore it became a risk factor. The drug companies jumped on this billion dollar profit per year industry very quickly. Here is just one example from a recent article in American Journal of Cardiology. In a recent study 14 patients who had high cholesterol but were otherwise free of heart disease started taking the popular statin Lipitor. In just 12 to 24 weeks 71% developed abnormalities during diastolic (resting phase of the heart cycle). Diastolic dysfunction is a major cause of congestive heart failure. One of the side effects of some cholesterol prescription drugs is heart attack.
