Liver Function
Rids The Body Of Toxins

Your liver function and health is very important. Your liver is the largest solid organ in your body. By the time you're grown up, it will be about the size of a football. The liver does many jobs, but here are four really important ones.

• It cleans the blood
• It produces bile essential for digestion.
• Plays a major role in metabolism
• It stores glycogen the bodies energy sugar.

Cleans The Blood
As the blood passes through the liver this organ cleans the blood of all the toxins you gather during your day. These toxins come from everywhere, the water, the food the air and the toxins manufactured by the body itself. For example the body breaks down protein and there is waste left over. The liver takes it out. In the food and supplements we take there are vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. These essential nutrients are absorbed in the blood stream in your intestines but before they are delivered to the cells they pass through the liver.
As the blood pass through the liver it processes the nutrients and turns them into chemicals that the body can use and absorb readily. Anything the body cannot use or doesn’t need is sent back to the intestines in the bile and eliminated along with other waste products. The liver will try and break down anything you eat and eliminate it even real harmful compounds. Keep the liver healthier, eat right and stay away from bad, junky and dangerous items.

The Liver Manufactures Bile
Bile is a chemical digestive juice made in the liver. Its primary function is to digest fats that we eat. This chemical is stored in the gall bladder until it is needed. Bile is a rather thick yellow green. Not to pretty substance that is vitally important to the function of the body.

The Liver Stores Glycogen
You have heard of Carbohydrates, right? Those are the foods that are deadly on dieters. However, carbohydrates, also called Carbos, are the bulk of what makes up vegetables and fruits. The liver helps the body use carbohydrates, by breaking them down into a substance called glucose. Glucose is a type of sugar and is the body’s main source of energy which our cells use. This glucose in the liver is called glycogen. When ever the body needs a quick surge of energy like when your glucose level drops, the liver processes the glycogen into glucose and sends it where it is needed through the bloodstream.

Liver Function is also responsible for:
• Manufacturers cholesterol
• Produces thrombopoietin which regulates the production of blood platelets
• Breaks down insulin and other hormones
• Breaks down toxic substances such as prescription drugs
• Converts ammonia to urea
• Stores Vitamin A 1-2 year supply
• Stores Vitamin D a couple of months worth
• Also stores B-12, copper and iron
• Responsible for protein metabolism:

The Livers Health
Even without all the scientific knowledge it is plain to see that the health of the liver is essential to optimal health and well being.
