Reasons To Exercise Live Long and Prosper
Do you need reasons to exercise? Any physiologist will tell you the body was designed to be exercised. Without exercise the body can rapidly deteriorate. This deterioration can be seen and felt. Without exercise we immediately become flabby and lose muscle tone and strength. Without exercise we breathe harder and our blood pressure invariable rises sometimes to dangerous levels, many times without us knowing it. This is demonstrated at a children's soccer game. The kids run for hours without effort. After the game the children run to the car, the parents can sometimes not walk to the car without breathing hard and feeling weak and tired. Reasons to exercise?, Parents won’t look like wimps and embarrass their children. In one of my former professions I was around construction workers a lot and the one thing I noticed, not to many fat guys. Roofers and framers pound nails all day with extreme amounts of movement. Brick layers move all day some still carry concrete by hand. Not to many fat guys here either. People who drive for a living lots of over weight people here. Office workers who sit all day and do not exercise tend toward fat. Well you get my point. More reasons to exercise. Inactivity breeds over weight and obesity. Obesity is a high risk factor in heart disease. With inactivity the blood flow slows down, blood pressure rises and vascular damage increase and on and on. The easiest exercise is walking. Walking three times a week building to three or four miles and hour for 40 minutes has been shown to lower all risks of heart disease. If you walk for twenty to thirty minutes and create a heart rate 80% of your maximum you are doing a cardio workout that will defiantly improve your cardio vascular system You can easily find your Target Heart Rate with this simple method. Subtract your age from 220 (226 for women) to calculate your Maximum Heart Rate. Then multiple maximum heart rate by .85 to find your maximum workout heart rate. If you haven’t been exercising start slow probably about 50% of maximum. Work your way up to between 70 and 80% for a good aerobic workout. Reasons to exercise, a strong and healthy heart. This can be anything from lifting soup cans to working out on a machine. My favorite is the Total Gym. I will never be a Chuck Norris but I am and will continue to be in pretty good shape. The reason I like it because it is fairly easy and you can do the exercising in under thirty minutes a day. The total gym also has a way to get a cardio workout too. As I have said many times on this web site the human body was designed from the very beginning to be a machine that functions at its peak when exercised. The evidence is everywhere you look. Resistance training burns fat and reshapes your body better than cardio. The same way cardio gives you better heart health. You need them both for optimal health and well being.
