Resveratrol Potent Antioxidant In Red Wine and Cocoa
Resveratrol can give you smooth artery walls, more energy and a stronger immune system to name just a few.. Not only that, it is found in two of mankind’s favorite foods and drink, red wine and coca products. This nutrient is responsible for the pheromone called the French paradox.. The paradox baffled science for quite some time but now they know that it was a nutrient and not the alcohol which makes the French more resistant than the rest of us to heart disease even though their diets are considered poor. Red grape skin and the grape seed are the home to this polyphenolic compound and it is also found in abundance in cocoa. It is one of the more potent antioxidants. In studies with rats it has been shown to have these beneficial effects. It is an anti-inflammatory, anti cancer, blood sugar lowering and it is a chelating agent. People with cardiovascular disease could be helped immensely but no research has been completed showing this in humans.
Other foods where this nutrient is present is in peanuts and the Vaccinum species of berries which includes our old antioxidant rich friends blueberries, bilberries and cranberries. In a Harvard Medical School study there is evidence the this nutrient may be powerful enough to overcome the eating of an unhealthy diet such as a macaroni and cheese, ice cream and pizza diet. I don’t know if I would rush our and get resveratrol and figure you would still live a long and healthy life eating a poorly constructed diet but there is evidence that it might go along way in correcting the effects of a bad diet. This group of Harvard researchers wanted to know if this antioxidant can help us live longer, healthier lives. They gathered up a group of middle-aged mice and fed half of them a terrible junk food diet. To make sure it was the worst diet possible, 60% of the calories came from fat, including trans fats! These mice like people became over weight and wrought with health problems and all died prematurely. The researchers took the other half of the mice and fed them the same exact diet at the same exact time. But in addition to the horrible diet, these mice were given Resveratrol The result these mice became overweight, too. But they looked healthy and their organs functioned as normally as thin mice eating a regular diet. the mice that were on the nutrient rich diet lived up to 15% longer than normal. For you and me it is like adding eleven years. In physical tests the overweight mice on nutrients out performed thin mice without the nutrients. The tubby mice had twice the stamina and agility as there thin brethren It was found they performed so well because the resveratrol increases the blood flow and increases the energy available at the cell level.. In other studies it has been shown to double stamina in animals.
This amazing nutrient has also been shown in vitro (read test tube)to increase heart health by decreasing platelet aggregation and increasing blood flow. Like all nutrients it works at the cell level giving the mitochondria the nutrients it needs to turn fat into energy Resveratrol has been found to inhibit the proliferation of a variety of human cancer cell lines, including those from breast, prostate, stomach, colon, pancreatic, and thyroid cancers Resveratrol is found in our whole food nutritional complex Super Fruit and Berry Antioxidant Energy Drink. It is also found in all of our completely balanced nutritional formulas in the form of grape seed extract and other antioxidant fruits. You may also find it in powder and capsule form either by itself or as a nutrient of blueberry, bilberry or grape seed extract supplements. When considering supplements be careful to choose quality regardless of price. Because a nutrient is lowerpriced does not mean it is not high quality and vice-versa. Nutrients are ruined easily by the incorrect processing techniques. This nutrient or any nutrient is best found in food sources or supplements that come directly from the food sources.
