Stop Smoking Best Choice I Ever made
Stop smoking. Not stopping smoking was a very bad life choice for me. A choice that was my responsibility. However, I did not find out until I was about 50 that the doctors never expected me to cease smoking. They later told me, they believed at that time that smoking to a Buerger's disease patient is like heroin to a heroin addict. I caused my self years of pain and physical discomfort. Yes I know that some people smoke all their lives and die at 90 in their sleep. However with that said, I can also say with almost 100% certainty that smoking decreases the blood flow throughout your body and is extremely bad for arms, legs, feet, toes and fingers.
The feet, toes, arms and fingers are the home of very small arteries, veins and capillaries. A little constricting caused by nicotine can cause a great deal of damage. Add to that a little cholesterol and you have real problems. Blood vessel damage caused by nicotine induced free radical damage causes inflammation vessel restriction and clogging this leads to peripheral vascular disease. This is especially true of people who are diabetic. Diabetes itself can causes very poor circulation, which leads to things as bad as blindness and amputation of limbs. Add smoking to diabetes and it increases the problem a hundred fold. When I quit smoking in 1980 I knew it would help my then very, very poor circulation in my feet. However, I was really amazed at how well it actually improved my condition. I could then start walking again, something I could do very little of before. Walking caused a good deal of pain and anguish before April of 1980 and was quickly and thoroughly removed after I quit smoking.
So my recommendation is to stop smoking and eat better. More fruits and vegetables will actually help the cravings caused by smoking cessation. It is a day to day process. All of my family who smoked have now stopped. That is a wow moment. It isn't the easiest thing in the world to do but it is not the hardest either. There are no side affects and it will improve ever aspect of your health and many other areas of your life. And if I can do it cold turkey most everyone else can. It is a choice, make it now. It is now 29 years later and I have no more peripheral vascular disease. However, to be 100% honest, stopping smoking didn't cure my vascular disease by itself. It also took years and years of EDTA chelation therapy and diet change. And that is a whole other story. If I had not stopped smoking I am now 100% convinced I would not be here and that is worth anything you have to go through.
